The Santiago domestic airport lounge delivered the single worst food experience of our entire world trip — and that's saying something. Dried-out sandwiches. Cold soup. Cold cuts that appeared to have been standing guard since sometime last week.

üIn Nha Trang, when the kids got horrified when live shrimp were placed on the grill, one even wriggling free in a desperate escape attempt. Benoit quickly intervened, ending the drama.

Audrey unknowingly picked the spiciest Spanish Padrón pepper in the bowl—out of twelve, she chose the one fiery rebel. It was so blisteringly hot, it took her nearly 20 minutes to recover!

The most addictive or surprising snack: Apple Strudel à Favorite spending for our kids at groceries 

When our guide offered up an Amazon maggot, Benoit didn't hesitate — he just ate it. The guide burst out laughing, thoroughly impressed. The strange part? The first taste was almost like brazil nuts. But bite all the way through, and it delivers exactly what you'd expect from a maggot. No amount of bravado gets you past that.

üGranola Bar Mania: once the kids realized these magical snacks existed — something they’d never seen in Japan or anywhere else on our trip — they went from zero to four bars a day without hesitation.

Empanadas. Full stop. We ate them everywhere, at every hour, for every reason — and every single one was better than the last. The kids were obsessed. Liam and Aiden have officially declared the empanada the greatest snack in human history.
